Lizl came to us with a request to help her put together the best baby shower for Julians’ mom, Huilebrand (one of her best friends). Being busy, setting up her own accounting practice I-Books, Lizl was too busy to look after and arrange the shower from concept to execution. In came Why Concepts, butterflies and unicorns (we don’t ride white horses…) to the rescue..!
THE CLIENT BRIEF:
THE EVENT:
We decided on using white, taupe and teal blue as the colours for the baby shower. Initially we did a teddy bear theme but as time progressed the bears and a “Very Modern Milly” did not work well together. As this is a baby shower and they wanted the event to take place during the late afternoon or early morning, we decided on a high tea or a morning tea as food and beverage inspiration. Ultimately the morning tea won the challenge.
A teal blue taffeta table cloth with white damask runners was the base for the food table. Seeing that Julian is a boy we wanted to keep some of the masculinity in the shower. A world travelling watercolour artist visiting the best tea houses in the world, was the inspiration for the framed prints of tea cups and teapots – always with a scone or some form of high tea involved. Just the way we like it. Vintage serving plates and cake stand were combined with silver cupcake stands and white paper flowers. Yes you read correctly, white paper flowers!
The paper flowers was also used in conjunction with fresh flowers on the main table and gifts table, a bit of peach to add a little bit of POP. Tea pots and tea cups were used as flower vases to pull the theme to the main table.
CONCLUSION:
Baby showers are the most precious moments in the life of a to-be mother. She is filled with thoughts about her life being about to spin out of control. But a baby shower reminds her of the joys of motherhood. It is an occasion where friends and family members bestow their blessings and bring their good wishes.
